Full Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kigali – City Tour – Genocide Memorial

Arrive at Kigali International Airport, where your driver-guide is ready to greet you with a flask of coffee. Kigali’s city center is a short drive away and is bustling with palm-fringed boulevards and moto-taxis.

Morning: Situated in Kigali, Rwanda’s capital, the Moto taxi and traditional crafts market offer perfect starting points to navigate the city alongside its stunning green parks and viewing points.

Afternoon: Provides an hour-long excursion into the harrowing history of modern-day Rwanda through photos, artifacts, and an elegantly arranged garden of roses.

Evening: Ends with sip of Rwanda’s famous coffee and their delicious sambaza fish whilst watching the sun dip behind the hills.

After dinner, you will head to the hotel from where you can enjoy Kigali’s twinkling lights, which resemble stars scattered across the sky.

Day 2: Kigali – Akagera National Park – Evening Boat Safari

Dawn finds you bumping along dusty tracks. A black rhino grazes in the distance while lions patrol the short grass and elephants appear from fever tree groves. Picnic brunch is beside a waterhole followed by a shaded siesta. The return loop north features herds of zebra blending into the heat-hazed horizon. Camp is in a state of utter exhaustion and exhilaration.

Dinner at the lodge strengthens the conclusion that the day was delightful. The cool night rounds out the warm evening spent relaxing above the African wild.

Day 3: Akagera National Park – Full Day Game Drive

The day previously outlined continues with rigorous afternoon activities. Round of tired yet euphoric energetic moments around camp. Resting provides recuperation for the next chapter of activities.

Retracing steps to the lodge, the familiar aroma of grass and dirt fills the surrounding air as dusk begins to fall.

Day 4: Akagera – Kigali – Cultural Tour, we have a morning exit from the park

The rest of the day in Kigali is spent engaging with the region’s contemporary culture, starting with the walking tour at the Nyamirambo Women’s Centre and a visit to Inema Arts Center, where bright canvasses and welded metal giraffes radiate optimism.

Evening is free for exploration of Kigali’s food scene, which is slowly emerging.

Day 5: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park – Community Visit.

We have our morning set to a two-hour drive north, which is accompanied by a view of tea terraces until we reach Virunga cones, which are covered in mist. Post lunch, you go to visit the Gorilla Guardians Village.

Former poachers dressed in vivid shúkàs share their tales of turning from conservation’s enemies to allies while dancing and drumming around a crackling fireplace. Tomorrow will be focused on the gorillas.

Dinner is at the lodge under a starlit sky.

Day 6: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park

A full hour spent together with a family of Gorillas that are oblivious to time or borders. Soft grunt sounds and a silverback comes into view slowly and gracefully. Every rustle spike adrenaline. Bamboo gently pushing open, so you can step through.

The feeling is surreal. Lunch is an effortless task to enjoy while the rest of the day is about reflecting on the unforgettable moments.

Day 7 | Golden-Monkey Trek & Village Walk

Golden monkeys put on a display for everyone with monkey business in the form of a comical leaping show. Strolls from the farm reveal patches of potatoes, unique hives, and sip on a cup while learning Kinyarwanda phrases. Dinner is the last in volcanic setting as the sun dips behind the horizon.

Day 8 | Volcanoes Kigali – Art, Coffee and Departure

During the drive back to the capital, enjoy the postcard view stops with terraced hills. In Kigali, you can grab a latte at Question Coffee’s social-enterprise café and do some last-minute shopping before your guide takes you to the airport.

As the plane takes off and peaks become a memory, the vibrant Kigali city life, charming hippo snorts coupled with powerful gorilla glimpses are will linger in your mind
